Artmotive.com::
The Motive
Behind the
Art This
creative
community
came about
as a result
of my year
on the board
of the
Community
Arts Council
of Kamloops,
where I was
webmaster
until that
site was
absorbed
into the
OMRAC
(Okanagan
Mainline
Regional
Arts
council).
While it is
well enough
to showcase
a regional
or even
national
group of
artists, I
wanted to
highlight
artists and
other
professionally
minded
creative
types ion
one site,
without a
focus on the
Kamloops
area.
While
most of the
creative
individuals
on this site
are from the
interior of
British
Columbia,
there is
certainly no
special
focus on
talent from
this area,
and instead,
this
imbalance is
merely due
to the
limited
range of the
administrator,
the circle
of friends I
know, and
the
professional
and family
ties I
maintain.
While
Artmotive.com
is by
invitation
only, it is
not an
exclusive
club, nor do
the members
pay anything
unless they
wish to
donate. Most
of the sites
which are
presented
here are
off-server,
that is,
hosted
and
maintained
elsewhere,
and merely
linked to
from
artmotive.
The
quality and
number of
talented
individuals
I have met
and whose
creative
endeavors I
have enjoyed
far exceed
the scope of
this site,
not to
mention my
limited
time. I am a
busy
illustrator
with
constant
deadlines,
and so the
number of
hours per
month I can
spend on
this project
are few.
nevertheless,
I will be
contacting
certain
individuals
to ask them
to join this
group.
To become
a member,
the key
criteria to
joining is
not so much
where you
are at in
your career,
or if you
are making a
full time
living form
your craft,
but rather,
that you are
professionally
minded and
focused on
developing a
career as a
creative
person.
Your
educational
certification,
list of
shows,
awards won
and sales
made are
irrelevant
next to the
dedication
you show for
your chosen
art form.
If this
applies to
you,
regardless
of your art
form or
career
level,
simply email
me and send
me a link to
an online
portfolio or
other web
based place
to see, read
or listen to
your work.
Even if
you are not
interested
or ready to
join up,
please feel
free to
review our
extensive
resource and
links pages,
let an
artist know
f you liked
their work,
and feel
free to give
us feed back
on the site.
All the
best,
William
